Sometimes, I know when a figure is finished, sometimes I don’t. I don’t want to add anything to this little wire and clay person, i think it’s done.

for the last few years i’ve been experimenting with paper mache, and paper in general, especially antique papers… and wire, and really old fabric, and things from my garden, like moss and wee flowers and twigs and roots… ok. i’m obsessed. here are a small sampling of what i’ve been making. the question is… should i open up a shop and sell? just keep making them for myself? will i run out of room?

A question I ask continually as I work on the final stages of sculpting my paper mache figures. I still don’t know who she is. I just know she has a lovely soul.

I’ve started making big and little friends to share my studio space with me. I absolutely love bending wire and adding layers on and on. My first pieces were big… bigger is definitely easier, and a good way to get the feel for it.

I also love adding fabric, and letting the newsprint show through. Luckily, I have a stash of vintage fabrics, buttons, magazines and papers to use. Here’s Girl Bear.
